Having a baby really makes you reflect on things....

We are so blessed to have such amazing families! We spent our Easter weekend at my sister Ciji's new house in Grand Rapids. It was so great to spend time with Ciji and Nick. My other sister Alicia and her husband Matt and my neice Kameryn were also there...and Aunt Lori, Uncle Scott, Elyse, Aunt Bev, Uncle Bruce as well as Ciji's finance Nick's family were also there to enjoy the day. We all chipped in to cook a fabulous dinner and had a great time spending the day with family.

Having Sam has really made me reflect on my childhood and all the great times with my cousins, sisters, grandparents, and great grand parents .... I am only 30 but I can WOW how times have changed! I remember all the dinners at my great grandparents farm with all the cousins playing in the barn and in the fields and same for weekends at grandma and grandpas house in Hubbard Lake.
The family is so spread out now some in Utah, Tennessee, Germany, Africa, Alpena, Grand Rapids, Flint, South Carolina, California. I am so sad that Sam is going to be raised in that small town up norht with the whole family right around the corner.
He still has some cousins he has never met yet ... and he only gets to see Gramma (who lives in Germany) a couple of times a year.

It is really sad that the family has to be spread all over the globe just to keep good jobs....

  1. I can so relate to this. Jay and I are both only children, and the family we do have live far away. There's no "dropping the kids off at my sisters" for us. Try not to stress about it. The good thing about having your friends as your family is that you can pick them. ;-)

read through your whole blog! Don't worry about what to write, just tell yourself you're going to post at least something once a week. If that's one sentence and three pics--do it! You're doing a great job!!
