Having a baby really makes you reflect on things....

We are so blessed to have such amazing families! We spent our Easter weekend at my sister Ciji's new house in Grand Rapids. It was so great to spend time with Ciji and Nick. My other sister Alicia and her husband Matt and my neice Kameryn were also there...and Aunt Lori, Uncle Scott, Elyse, Aunt Bev, Uncle Bruce as well as Ciji's finance Nick's family were also there to enjoy the day. We all chipped in to cook a fabulous dinner and had a great time spending the day with family.

Having Sam has really made me reflect on my childhood and all the great times with my cousins, sisters, grandparents, and great grand parents .... I am only 30 but I can WOW how times have changed! I remember all the dinners at my great grandparents farm with all the cousins playing in the barn and in the fields and same for weekends at grandma and grandpas house in Hubbard Lake.
The family is so spread out now some in Utah, Tennessee, Germany, Africa, Alpena, Grand Rapids, Flint, South Carolina, California. I am so sad that Sam is going to be raised in that small town up norht with the whole family right around the corner.
He still has some cousins he has never met yet ... and he only gets to see Gramma (who lives in Germany) a couple of times a year.

It is really sad that the family has to be spread all over the globe just to keep good jobs....

Sam's First Spoon Feeding

Sam has been pretty curious everytime we are eating or drinking...
Last night I thought I would dab some ice cream on his lips and to my surprise he opened up wide and at it off the fork like a big boy.
So today I decided we should try a little cereal with the spoon....holy messy but he seemed to really like it!
So I guess its a new game of feeding around here!

Sam Updates

This week Sam will be 4 months old....I can't believe it! He is rolling over and working on getting his first tooth. It is so amazing how quick he is changing. He can hold his head up on his own and tries to pull himself up to a sitting position. He likes to sit up like a big boy and be able to look around at everything going on. Most importantly he pretty much sleeps thru the night!! He is starting to laugh and giggle and he loves it when his daddy sings with him...he just smiles and laughs.

Trying New Things...

Ok so Sam is really changing quick and learning new things every day... So I guess Mommy should get with it and try to see if I can post a video or two ... A few weeks ago he decided that he can now roll over and I was so lucky that I was already videoing him goooing and gahhing in his crib and caught the rolling over on video so daddy could see it too...hopefully this video works and everyone can get a glimpse.

Welll my initial thoughts were right....

So since it has taken me a few weeks to get back to this...I guess this is going to be tough to do ...but I hopefully I will get my act together and start to post something more often.

So lets start from the beginning...
A little over a year ago I was laid off from my job, it was a huge upset for me and a set back in our home remodeling task ..and our budget. A few weeks later I decided to go back to school - WOW that makes you feel old! And shortly after that we found out that the lay off was acutally a blessing...we were expecting our first baby.

I never in a million years thought I would like being at home with a baby...and some days I still feel like a job would be great...but all in all I am so blessed to beable to stay at home with Sam and enjoy every little goo and gah he makes and see all the little changes in him as he grows each day.

Do the budget is screwed and the trim still isn't done in 2 of the bedrooms but all in all I am pretty damn lucky to have such a supportive wonderful man in my life who has given me a pretty amazing little boy.

I think this might be a good idea....

Most of our family lives anywhere from 2 hours, a few states aways, all the way across the country, to all the way over the ocean.... So I figured maybe this is a good way to not only document moments in our life but also to share them with friends and family.
So we will see how good I am at keeping this up.
So here it goes....day one (which is really 3 1/2 months) into our new amazing life with Sam.
